A toddler who had been in critical condition after being pulled from a swimming pool died Monday morning at a Fort Worth hospital, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website and police.

The child was identified as Adrian Romero-Valadez, 1, of Fort Worth.

Adrian died at 7:19 a.m. at Cook Children’s Medical Center, where he had been since Saturday.

A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.

Police were dispatched on Saturday to the 2800 block of Walton Avenue.

Family members told police that Adrian had wandered out of his home, and they began a search for him.

Adrian was found in an apartment pool a short distance from his home.

The first officer on the scene performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on Adrian, and the boy was then taken to the Fort Worth hospital.

“No charges are expected on the parents or anyone else involved,” Fort Worth officer Tamara Valle said in a Monday email. “This was an accident.”
