Texas Motor Vehicle Traffic Crash Facts for 2015

Every Year around May, Texas Department of Transportation releases crash statistics for the prior year. Being a personal injury law firm, we are around injuries and death resulting from negligence fairly often. However, reading the statistics makes you realize just how dangerous driving can be, especially when drivers decide to distract themselves or drink alcohol. Below are the Traffic Crash statistics for 2015 in Texas.

  • The Rate on texas Roadways for 2015 was 1.43 deaths per hundred million vehicles traveled.

  • In 2015, there were 476 people killed in crashes involving distracted driving.

These facts are alarming to say the least. In 2015 there wasn't a single day in Texas where someone did not die from a traffic crash. Although, there was a decrease in traffic related deaths from 2014 to 2015, we need to work harder to further decrease this number. Even one death is too many.
